Put Down Roots
Adopt a sugar maple on a real Ontario farm, and taste the syrup your tree makes every spring.
How It Works
1. Adopt Your Tree
Choose your adoption and we'll match you with a sugar maple on a family farm in Southwestern Ontario.
2. Get Your Keepsakes
Your personalized certificate and ornament arrive by mail in time for Christmas, or by email within 24 hours if you're cutting it close.
3.Taste Your Spring Syrup
When the sap runs, the farm taps, boils and bottles the season's syrup from your tree's sugar bush, and we ship it to your door.
Choose Your Family Tree
Your own sugar maple, and a bottle of syrup from its sugar bush for the table.

Rooted in Ontario
I'm an agricultural appraiser, which means I spend my days on Ontario farms, and I've seen first-hand how hard our farmers work.
Maple syrup might be the most remarkable thing they make. It depends entirely on the weather: freezing nights, thawing days, and a harvest window that lasts just a few short weeks each spring. No two seasons taste quite the same.
Family Tree Maple connects you with family farms in Southwestern Ontario so you can share in that harvest, one tree at a time.

-
Yes. Your adoption is matched with a real sugar maple on a family farm in Southwestern Ontario, and your certificate tells you which farm your tree calls home and which number tree you are on that farm.
-
Your tree is part of a sugar bush, a whole stand of maples tapped together on the same family farm. Sap from every tree in the bush is gathered and boiled down together, the way syrup has always been made. That means your bottles come from your tree and its neighbours: the same farm, the same land, the same season.
-
Maple season runs from late winter into early spring, depending on the weather. Once the season's syrup is bottled, we ship your order, usually in [month]. We'll email you when it's on its way.
-
Syrup changes as the season goes on. First Run is light and delicate, Peak Run is rich and amber, and Last Run is dark and bold. The Tasting Trio and Family Reserve let you taste all three side by side.
-
Absolutely, that's what most people do. Choose mailed delivery and a personalized certificate and keepsake ornament will arrive by Christmas. Order by December 10, 2026 for mailed delivery. Short on time? Choose Simply Spring Syrup at checkout and the certificate is emailed within 24 hours.

Maple syrup depends entirely on the weather, and some springs are leaner than others. Because your tree is part of a whole sugar bush, and because we limit the number of adoptions each farm takes on, we plan for lean years so your order is still filled.
-
Your tree for the season lives in an Ontario Sugar Bush that is a very busy, year round farm. While we do offer a spring pancake breakfast with a tour, we are otherwise unable to accommodate visits.
-
Unopened, pure maple syrup keeps for a long time in a cool, dark place. Once it's opened, keep it in the fridge.
-
Not at this time. We currently ship within Canada only, and shipping is included with your order.
